Microbiome science, explained clearly and carefully
mbiome is an independent educational resource explaining microbiome science accessibly and accurately — without pretending the evidence is stronger than it is.
mbiome is an independent educational platform dedicated to making microbiome science accessible and accurate. We believe that understanding the trillions of microorganisms living in and on your body is one of the most important health topics of our time and that the information available should be grounded in evidence, not marketing.
Our Approach
Every article on mbiome is written with reference to peer-reviewed research and clinical evidence. Where the science is strong, we say so. Where it's preliminary or uncertain, we say that too. We don't make claims that outstrip the evidence, and we don't promote products without a solid scientific basis.
Editorial Standards
- Evidence hierarchy: We prioritise systematic reviews and meta-analyses, followed by randomised controlled trials, then observational studies. Animal and in vitro studies are clearly labelled as preliminary.
- Citations: Every article references specific published research — journal names, lead authors, and publication years. We link to PubMed and DOI records where available.
- Transparency: Where evidence is conflicting or insufficient, we say so explicitly. We do not cherry-pick studies to support a narrative.
- Updates: Articles are reviewed periodically and updated when significant new research is published. The "last updated" date reflects this.
- Independence: mbiome is editorially independent. Content decisions are based on scientific merit, not commercial interest.
